Jen Carter asked:
Hemorrhoid is a miserable disease and a lot of people suffer from it. Hemorrhoids are the swelling of the rectal veins due to straining of that area. These tissues or veins are very delicate and can be irritated easily. When irritated, they swell, itch, burn and give pain to the person. There are numerous ways to correct hemorrhoid. In the past, people used herbs and simple remedies. These remedies are still being used to give fast relief to the problem. These include soaking the area in warm water or ice, putting herms on the area, etc.
There are two types of hemorrhoids- internal and external. Prolapsed hemorrhoids happen in the case of internal hemorrhoids. This is the case when the hemorrhoids protrudes from the **** and would sometimes not retract. This is a serious and most of the times need surgery. Even otherwise hemorrhoid removal is always a good option that the person who suffers from the disease has.
How to remove hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids are removed by surgery known as hemorrhoidectomy. In this surgery the veins of the rectum is removed. It can also be done using laser system. The surgical area may be left open or sewn but it is covered with medicated gauze. Hemorrhoidical surgery is risky and even though it promises of permanent correction, it is not always the case. The hemorrhoid may return after the surgery. It also takes a lot of time to recover after the surgery. It may take up to 10 weeks for a patient to recover from the surgery.
Even after the removal, the person may face bleeding and will be in lot of pain. While ********* or passing stool, the person who removed the hemorrhoid will experience a lot of pain.
There is a lot of care involved after removal of hemorrhoids. The person has to be really careful not to cause any strain on the rectal areas. There should be absolutely no pressure or else bleeding and pain will follow. The person should keep his weight in check and his diet should contain a lot of fibers and water. The person should keep in mind not to sit for too long or pick heavy objects. The usual practices of soaking, cleaning, applying creams should not be stopped. The person should go to the doctor for follow-up check ups and also keep medicines like pain killers in hand.
These surgeries are expensive and there is no certainty that the problem will not return after the surgery. Therefore it is always advisable that surgery is not done if the problem is not severe.
